This is Westbrook’s fist Anniversary Imperial Stout and these guys have hit the mark.
Poured into a belgian tulip glass it is shimmering black with a thick dark caramel colored head. At first sip the carbonation is mild and the mouthfeel is big silky and sweet. This is a big flavorful Imperial stout. Dark fruit and raisin flavors are soon overtaken by bitter dark roasted malt and coffee flavors. The beers finish is very dry with coffee and dark roasted malt bitterness lingering around with hints of chocolate and vanilla. The ABV lends to the dry warming finish but the habenero makes the warming linger around a bit longer than normal making you crave that next sweet sip.  Let this one warm up and the flavors really come together for a unique sipping experience.
