This bottle of “Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale” was a gift from Derek Van Horn, a very good friend and cigar smokin’ buddy!
Tasting Size: 12oz Bottle.
Alltech’s Lexington Brewing Company “Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale” was aged for six (6) weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels.
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale poured with a two-finger, foamy, white head and was a beautiful clear amber in color.
The immediate smell was malts. Additional aromas I picked up on were Vanilla and Oak.
That initial moderate first taste was both sweet and tart. As this Ale warmed up the Vanilla flavors really jumped out at you. This is also when the Bourbon and Oak flavors really made themselves known.
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale had a creamy and syrupy mouthfeel. The Bourbon Barrel aging really made this ale extremely smooth and very drinkable.
Thank you Derek!

Buy Again: Yes!
Overall Rating: I give Alltech’s Lexington Brewing Company “Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale an 8 out of 10.
